Windows 7 Cookbook – Unable to run .JNLP file (Java web start)

Java Network Launching Protocol, or JNLP, is associated with Java Web Start initiative.
To modify the file association to open JNLP files

• Click on Start –> Control Panel
• Change the Control Panel view to View By Category
• Click on Programs link
• Under the Default Programs select Make a file type always open in a specific program
• Under the name column Select .jnlp and click on Change Program button
• Click on Browse
• Go to jre bin folder and select javaws application –> Click OK
• Click Close button

Now JNLP file will open by default with Java Web Start
